LA Family Housing Seeks To Hire Expert DEI Consultant

It seems like only yesterday we were mourning the state of our Country, specifically the stark reality of institutional racism and the cultural divides and judgements that need to be aggressively addressed. Although May 25, 2020, the day George Floyd was murdered, was five months ago, we continue to see the issues, feel the pain, and hear the outcry today.

During this time of tremendous challenge, there is also great opportunity for reflection, evaluation, and positive change. While it may seem like not much has changed yet, LAFH has been busy doing the necessary work to ensure we, as a mission-driven organization and one committed to serving those in need and standing up for what’s right, took a firm stand on acknowledging social injustices.  We made a determined effort to respond, including placing a great deal of value and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Over the past several months, our DEI journey has included recognizing that structural racism is real, listening to input from our staff, deciding that there is action to be taken and training to be provided, and making a commitment to move forward. With this new awareness we are looking to partner with a consulting firm to assist us in identifying and overcoming DEI barriers, with transformative solutions.  At LAFH we want to ensure DEI is a deep culture change and not work that’s done once and crossed off a list, which takes time and intention. We will accomplish this with our consulting partner’s assistance and guidance, whom we look to have on board in November.

We invite you to consider our RFP attached HERE for your convenience. Please submit the submission requirements by November 9th, and feel free to contact us with any questions at deiconsultingopportunity@lafh.org
