What is LA Family Housing?
LA Family Housing (LAFH) is a non-profit agency that helps people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.
Who Does LA Family Housing Work With?
LAFH participants are regular Angelenos, just without a permanent address. LAFH serves both families and individuals, a large majority of whom are housed in partnership with private landlords and managers like you.
What Sort of Assistance Does LAFH Provide?
Every participant’s case is unique, but some common examples of financial assistance LAFH provides are:
• 1st Month’s Rent
• Security Deposit
• Application Fees
• Short/Long Term Rental Assistance
In certain circumstances, LAFH may be able to offer participating landlords additional financial incentives. In addition, most LAFH participants continue to receive supportive services to enable them and their families continue to thrive.

How Does LA Family Housing Pay Landlords?
LA Family Housing will mail agency checks to any U.S. mailing address. In urgent cases, it may be possible to hand deliver a check within Los Angeles County.
Is This Section 8?
No. LAFH is a non-profit agency that provides temporary assistance to individuals and families. We do, however, work with several Section 8 voucher holders and are often able to offer additional financial incentives to landlords who are new to Section 8 programs.
Am I now leasing to LAFH?
No. All LAFH participants sign a regular lease just like any other tenant. Partnering with LAFH does not change the regular relationship between tenant and landlord.
What’s the process like to work with LAFH?
Easy! Prospective LAFH tenants will apply to rent your unit just like any other tenant. Once approved, a member of the LAFH Location Team will contact you to fill out the required paperwork do a quick inspection. Oftentimes, the entire process can be completed in one day.
