Dozens of homeless veterans will have a new place to sleep thanks to an angel.
Community leaders celebrated the opening of My Angel, a 54-unit supportive housing complex in North Hills. The development includes 24 units for veterans and 30 for unhoused individuals, with tenants paying a portion of the subsidized rent.
"I want to give my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to LA Family Housing, staff and the people that work around here that tirelessly and lovingly make me feel at home," said army veteran Joseph Bellucci.

Modular Housing Construction in Chatsworth Builds Apartments for Homeless

One by one, a crane lifted what looked like shipping containers into the air and placed each one near the corner of Devonshire Street and Eton Avenue in Chatsworth. The rectangular-shaped “modular units” were set down on a 31,000-square-foot construction site with plans to join them together to build an apartment building for people who are currently homeless.
The premanufactured units will be connected like Lego pieces to construct 99 affordable studio apartments in a four-story building – dubbed the “Cielo” – priced for tenants currently unhoused in Los Angeles who earn between 30 and 50 percent of the median income level in the area.
Stephanie Klasky-Gamer, president and CEO of LA Family Housing (LAFH), described the new modular project as “a game changer.” She said utilizing modular units to create the Cielo and similar future housing projects cuts construction costs, and the relatively uniform design helps reduce construction timelines.

LA Family Housing Hosts LAFH Awards 2024 at Pacific Design Center
Each year, LA Family Housing Awards brings together advocates, long-time supporters, entertainment industry leaders, government partners, and friends for an evening of education, advocacy, and inspiration. Together, they reflect on how to end homelessness in people’s lives and celebrate the heart and soul of LAFH—their extraordinary staff.
Guests and supporters had the opportunity to bid on unique auction packages, enjoy cuisine from some of LA’s top chefs who are lending their voice (and their recipes) to their mission, sip specialty cocktails, and enjoy a special performance by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. Most importantly, guests join in a much larger movement to end homelessness in people’s lives.
