2025 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count Results

July 14, 2025

LA Family Housing welcomes the release of the 2025 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count and offers both gratitude and resolve in response. First, our deepest thanks go to the thousands of volunteers across the County who stepped forward to ensure an accurate count, including those who reported to the deployment site at our Irmas Family Campus in North Hollywood.

The results of this year’s Homeless Count confirm what we at LA Family Housing have long believed: that deep collaboration, an emergency-level response, and bold, innovative solutions can drive meaningful progress in our region’s homelessness crisis.

For the second consecutive year, homelessness has decreased across Los Angeles County—down 3.9% overall, and 2.5% within the City of Los Angeles. More encouragingly, unsheltered homelessness—the most visible and urgent form of this crisis—fell by 9.4% in the County and by 7.9% in the City—an 18% reduction since 2023. These are hard-won gains, reflecting what’s possible when investments in housing and supportive services are sustained and scaled.

In 2024, the entire system achieved a record 27,994 permanent housing placements —a clear testament to the region’s collective efforts. LA Family Housing directly contributed to this milestone with 3,266 of those placements. In addition, with our sister company LAFHBuilds, we are continuing to expand the region’s supply of affordable housing, opening 177 new units in 2024, with 329 units of permanent supportive housing currently under construction.

At LA Family Housing, we believe the Homeless Count is not just data—it’s a roadmap for action. These numbers represent thousands of lives changed—and remind us that with sustained investment, accountability, and compassion, we can continue turning the tide. The work is far from over, but this progress proves what is possible when we work together with urgency, innovation, and a commitment to compassionate, equity-centered solutions.
